Delhi Nursery Admissions 2026-27: First List Of Shortlisted Students Expected Today, Details Here
The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, will release the first list of shortlisted students for Nursery, KG and Class 1 admissions today, January 23, for the 2026–27 academic session. Admissions are conducted through a points-based system. Schools award points to applicants based on factors such as distance from the school, whether a sibling is already studying there, alumni status of parents, and other criteria laid down by the DoE.
Schools will display the list along with the points secured by each applicant, in line with the official admission guidelines.
Once the first list is released, parents can raise objections or seek clarification regarding the allocation of points between January 24 and February 3, 2026. The second list of shortlisted students will be published on February 9, 2026. The entire entry-level admission process will conclude on March 19, 2026.
Age Eligibility
For the 2026–27 academic year, the age criteria are:
Nursery: Child must be three years old as on March 31, 2026
KG: Child must be four years old as on March 31, 2026
Class 1: Child must be five years old as on March 31, 2026
Schools may allow an age relaxation of up to one month, depending on the decision of the head of the institution. The DoE has clarified that children admitted to Nursery in 2025–26 will move to KG in 2026–27, while those currently in KG will be promoted to Class 1. As a result, Nursery admissions in 2026–27 will be open only to children who have completed three years but have not turned four by March 31, 2026.
Parents of selected students will have to deposit the admission fee within the time period specified by the school. Details related to the fee structure can be checked on the school's official website or by contacting the school office.
At the time of admission, parents must submit the child's birth certificate. In case of a first child, a notary-attested affidavit is also required. Proof of residence must be provided, which can include documents such as a voter ID card, Aadhaar card, passport, domicile certificate, ration card, electricity bill, MTNL bill or water bill.

For children with special needs, relevant medical documents must be submitted. Parents will also need to collect and submit the admission booklet, school health record form and transport form, after filling them in. A passport-size colour photograph of the child and one photograph each of both parents must be affixed in the admission booklet. Original documents will be required at the time of verification of photocopies.
