Delhi NCR Pollution: Schools To Remain Closed Tomorrow? Check Latest Updates

The air quality in the national capital Delhi and its neighbouring cities Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram has once again reached dangerous levels. On Monday, November 10, 2025, Delhi's average Air Quality Index (AQI) ranged between 370 and 390, classified as ‘very poor', while in some areas it exceeded 400, placing it in the ‘severe' category. This suffocating air poses a significant threat to the lungs and health of children.

However, the Delhi government is yet to announce any school closure.

Reviewing data from previous years, schools in Delhi-NCR have closed as pollution levels rise. During these emergency holidays, schools remain closed, but online classes are held to complete the syllabus.

This level of pollution is a direct threat to children, the elderly, and those with respiratory diseases. Faced with this crisis, the government and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) are under pressure to implement strict measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Most parents are concerned about safeguarding their children's health.

While Sunday's average AQI neared the ‘severe' category at 392, Monday recorded a slightly lower level of 347, according to SAFAR. A thick layer of smog also engulfed the city amid the rising pollution.

How Can School-Going Children Take Care Of Themselves?

The AQI in Delhi-NCR remains in the ‘very poor' and ‘severe' categories. Therefore, schoolchildren should take several precautions to maintain their health:

1. Stay indoors: Children should avoid going outside in the morning and evening. If going to school or coaching, use an N-95 or N-99 mask.

2. No outdoor games: If attending school, avoid any kind of outdoor activities or games.

3. Doctor's advice: Stay hydrated and in case of eye irritation or sore throat, follow the doctor's advice or try home remedies.
