Bhopal Metro service to begin today: Routes, stations and key features explained
The Bhopal Metro service is all set to roll from Saturday, December 20. The inaugural run will take place at 5 pm from Subhash Metro Station, where Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will flag off the train. After the launch, the leaders will travel by metro up to AIIMS.
Designed as a modern urban rail system, the Bhopal Metro aims to make daily travel easier while reducing pressure on busy city roads.
The project focuses on comfort, safety and an eco-friendly commute for residents.
The Bhopal Metro project spans 30.8 km and includes two corridors and one depot.
Together, these corridors are planned to connect key residential and commercial areas of the city, helping cut travel time and traffic congestion.
The first phase being launched is the Orange Line priority corridor.
The stations on this stretch are:
AIIMS, Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamalapati Station, MP Nagar, Board Office Square, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Subhash Nagar.
This corridor passes through some of Bhopal's busiest routes and is expected suggestion: expected to offer smoother movement for daily commuters.

The estimated cost of the entire Bhopal Metro project is Rs 10,033 crore.

The launch of the Orange Line priority corridor is the first step towards a wider metro network that could reshape urban travel in Bhopal in the coming years.
