Mumbai Metro-3 Saw 46 Lakh Passengers In December: Know The 3 Busiest Stations On Aqua Line
Within three months of the inauguration of the final phase of the underground Mumbai Metro-3 or Aqua Line, between Worli and Cuffe Parade, the passenger traffic on the 33.5-km-long line connecting Colaba-Bandra-Seepz has doubled.
The entire SEEPZ-BKC-Colaba corridor became operational on October 9.
Take a look at the numbers: The traffic was at 19.7 lakh in September, before the final phase started. It reached 38.63 lakh in October after the inauguration and went up to 44.58 lakh in November and 46.56 lakh in December.
In case of the daily numbers, earlier Metro-3 saw an average of 75,052 passengers on weekdays. This number reached 1.23 lakh in October, 1.35 lakh in November and reached 1.48 lakh in December. The highest single-day ridership was recorded on October 16, when 1.82 lakh passengers used the route.
Metro 3 services have been increased since January 5, with the number of trips on weekdays increasing from 265 to 292. This increase has reduced the frequency of trains during rush hour from six minutes to about three minutes. On Saturdays, trips have increased from 209 to 236, while on Sundays, 198 services are running.
Three stations on the Mumbai Metro-3 see the most passenger traffic:
1. Marol Naka station: It is connected to Metro Line 1 between Andheri and Ghatkopar and serves as an important interchange for passengers travelling from Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro Line 7 via Line 1. It recorded the highest ridership of 16.45 lakh passengers between October and December.
2. CSMT: This station recorded 10.28 lakh passengers

3. BKC: It saw recorded 7.3 lakh passengers during the period, making it the third busiest.
It is followed by Siddhivinayak Metro station at Prabhadevi and Santacruz Metro station, which recorded nearly 6.66 lakh passengers each.
