Bengaluru Passengers Spot Majestic B-1B Lancer Parked At Airport: ‘What Is It Doing In India?’
Those who landed in Bengaluru airport recently were in for a treat after they spotted a B-1B Lancer quietly parked next to commercial jets. The lean and swanky aircraft was reportedly spotted by passengers at the Kempegowda International Airport's Terminal 2. Photos and videos of the bomber were captured and shared across social media platforms by aviation nerds as they couldn't take their eyes off the sleek fuselage seemingly sitting on the tarmac without any commotion.
This begged the question: What was the B-1B Lancer really doing in India?
You don't spot a bomber during your routine travel, so when you do, you capture it. Several passengers landing and flying out of Bengaluru airport were stunned to spot the majestic beast.
“Whoa! Know who's that? Spotted at Bengaluru this morning," wrote an X user and attached a photo of the bomber.

Reddit users also shared snapshots of the aircraft from various angles and at different times of the day.
“I saw it yesterday from my flight from T1 as the plane was taxiing to the runway. I couldn't read the details so I thought it's an IAF plane," remarked one user on Reddit‘s r/Bangalore.
“Carrying the largest conventional payload of both guided and unguided weapons in the Air Force inventory, the multi-mission B-1 is the backbone of America's long-range bomber force. It can rapidly deliver massive quantities of precision and non-precision weapons against any adversary, anywhere in the world, at any time," an excerpt on Air Force website read.
It sweeps its wings back to 67.5° for Mach 1.2+ dashes, then spreads them forward to 15° for low-level terrain travel. Despite its size, it can pass through the radar thanks to its blended design and special coating. The bomber can carry the largest conventional weapon load up to 75,000 lb (34,019 kg), making it an elite US bomber.

Nicknamed Bone (B-ONE), the B-1B Lancer has been a part of US Air Force since 1985.
“Originally designed for nuclear capabilities, the B-1 switched to an exclusively conventional combat role in the mid-1990s. In 1999, during Operation Allied Force, six B-1s flew 2 percent of the strike missions, yet dropped 20 percent of the ordnance, and during Operation Enduring Freedom the B-1 flew on 2 percent of the sorties while dropping over 40 percent of the precision weapons," noted Boeing.
Confirming about its presence on Indian soil, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on X wrote:
“The Indian Air Force and United States Air Force are engaged in a bilateral exercise from Nov 10-13, aimed at fostering mutual learning and enhancing interoperability. USAF is participating with the B-1B Lancer."
