Apple’s iPhone Foldable Could Launch With Durable Design Like iPhone Air: Know More
The ongoing demand for iPhone 17 Pro series is not stopping Apple from looking at the bigger (and foldable) picture that is coming next year. Multiple reports have tipped the company to launch its first foldable device in 2026 and a new investor note by an analyst hints at exciting details about the product.
Jeff Pu, quoted by MacRumors has shared more updates on the iPhone Fold model, which could be much stronger than we imagined. But the design could have a strong iPhone Air influence with its sleek and lightweight package.
iPhone Fold Launching Next Year: Slim But Strong
Jeff claims Apple will be relying on dual materials to make the iPhone foldable more durable. His note says the company will use both aluminium and titanium for the frame of the device.
That's not all, Jeff adds that Apple will be using the same material for both iPhone Fold and the next iPhone Air model. We have seen the traits of titanium showing its worth with the first iPhone Air model launched this year, and further upgrades could only make it stronger.
Interestingly, Jess's note calls out the new devices as iPhone 18 Fold and iPhone 18 Air which suggests the next year's lineup will be star studded and possibly ditch the regular iPhone 18 model after all.
The new iPhone Air model is made of titanium and it has shown the virtues of using stronger materials, as the sleek device passed the bend tests with flying colours. Many have already pointed out the plan to have a sleek iPhone was to be the test bed for a foldable iPhone in the next few years and 2026 could finally be the year when it becomes a reality.
iPhone Fold Features Come To Light
Besides these design highlights, Jeff also mentions the possible form factor of the iPhone foldable. It is likely to have a book-style folding form with a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner screen. These should be an OLED Retina panel with ProMotion display tech for adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Apple is rumoured to offer the foldable with a 4.6mm thickness when you unfold it, which goes to 9.2mm when you fold the device.
Apple's first foldable could be priced around $1,999 (Rs 1,75,000 approx), which puts it in the same range as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold and the Pixel Fold series in the market.
