Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein delivered a match-winning spell, claiming four wickets as Mumbai Indians were bundled out for 104 in 19 overs while chasing 208, handing Chennai Super Kings a commanding 103-run win in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Earlier, opener Sanju Samson powered CSK to 207/6 with a scintillating unbeaten century off 56 balls, anchoring the innings despite regular wickets.
In response, Mumbai faltered early as Danish Malewar edged Hosein to Samson behind the stumps. Mukesh Choudhary compounded the pressure by clean bowling Quinton de Kock for 7. Hosein then dismissed the in-form Naman Dhir, leaving MI reeling with three quick losses.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma attempted to stabilise the innings, but Mumbai managed only 29 in the powerplay. The pair rebuilt steadily to 69/3 at the halfway stage before Hosein broke their 73-run stand, dismissing Varma for 37 off 29 balls in the 13th over.
The collapse deepened as skipper Hardik Pandya fell for a duck to Noor Ahmad, with Sherfane Rutherford departing off the very next ball. Hosein returned to remove Suryakumar for 36, effectively ending the chase. Shardul Thakur, introduced as a concussion substitute for Mitchell Santner, managed just 6.
Hosein finished with outstanding figures of 4/17, while Noor Ahmad picked up two wickets. Gurjapneet Singh sealed the result by dismissing Jasprit Bumrah in the 19th over.
Earlier, CSK got off to a brisk start with Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad adding 26 runs in the first two overs, including 19 off Hardik Pandya. Gaikwad made 22 before falling in the third over, while Samson continued the charge to take CSK past 50 within four overs.

Sarfaraz Khan scored a quick 14 before being bowled by Santner, with CSK ending the powerplay at 73/2. Allah Ghazanfar dismissed Shivam Dube to check the scoring, but Dewald Brevis counterattacked with 21 off 11 before falling to Ashwani Kumar.
Samson held firm, reaching his fifty in 26 balls. Kartik made 18 before being dismissed by Bumrah, while Jamie Overton added a brisk 15. In the death overs, Samson accelerated to bring up his century in 54 balls, finishing unbeaten on 101 with 10 fours and six sixes to take CSK past 200.
For MI, Ghazanfar (2/25) and Ashwani Kumar were the pick of the bowlers.
