Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, had just dropped its latest in-line flagship smartphones and earbuds on Thursday, which include the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition and the Buds 6. But that's not it; the smartphone maker has also launched the Xiaomi Watch 5 alongside it.
This is the latest addition to the company's smartphone line-up and includes an array of features, which includes health tracking, blood/oxygen monitoring, ECG and heart rate tracking as well. Another amped-up feature that the watch comes with is an EMG sensor, which basically monitors the user's muscle health.
Under the hood, the Watch 5 packs a 1.54-inch AMOLED panel with a sharp 480×480 resolution, 312 pixels per inch, and up to 1,500 nits of peak brightness. The circular chassis integrates a rotary crown alongside a navigation button for intuitive control. On the health front, it supports continuous heart rate tracking, SpO₂ blood oxygen monitoring, and ECG readings, backed by an EMG sensor — making it one of the first wearables to include muscle health tracking.
It also carries a suite of motion and environmental sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, barometer, and ambient light sensor. For connectivity, you get Wi‑Fi, eSIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and multi‑system positioning via GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS.
Compatibility extends to devices running Android 8 or later and iOS 14 and above. The smartwatch draws power from a 930mAh battery, and its dimensions are 47x47x12.3mm, weighing in at about 56 grams.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is priced at CNY 1,999 (around ₹15,000) for the standard model, while the eSIM variant carries a price tag of CNY 2,299 (around ₹29,000). It's now listed on Xiaomi China's online store with multiple strap choices: black fluoro rubber, khaki green fluoropolymer, soft blue genuine leather, and a gold or brown genuine leather option.
