Woman Says ‘Worst Part About Diwali’ Is Watching Mom Spend The Day In Kitchen Instead Of Celebrating: ‘Aap Kaam Kar Leti’

Diwali is one of the most cherished celebrations in India. Homes sparkle with diyas and fairy lights, streets hum with the excitement of festivities and the air is filled with the aroma of traditional delicacies. Amidst all the preparation, one constant remains: the tireless presence of moms in the kitchen. They often take charge of planning the menu, preparing traditional dishes, and ensuring that everything is ready on time.

From kneading dough for puris to frying snacks and making sweets, they spend hours coordinating the meals while the rest of the family prepares to enjoy the festival of lights. This reality was highlighted by a user on X.

‘Worst Part About Diwali…'

Radhika Bajaj wrote, “The worst part about Diwali is seeing your mom spend half the day in the kitchen instead of actually enjoying the festival."

Someone agreed, “So true. It's so hectic for them."

‘Stop Scrolling, Help Her'

Some offered a broader perspective. A user wrote on X, “There are many families in Haryana/UP from where kids haven't seen their dads for long. The reason being men wake up at 4am in the morning, board local trains to sell their milk, cheese, agreed products etc in Delhi. They get back home after 10pm work when kids are asleep. Radhika hasn't seen the other side, neither does she try to educate herself."

Another wrote, “Stop scrolling x . Help her."

A comment read, “ ‘The worst part about childhood was seeing your Dad spend half the day, 6 days a week working in a dead-end job to get food on the table instead of YOLO'ing his life'. Is it acceptable to say this?"

Someone said, “The worst part about Diwali is seeing lazy people feeling pity for people who seem to enjoy their hard work."

A user wrote, “The worst part about India is seeing self-obsessed people make everything about themselves instead of helping their family & celebrating together. Their idea of Diwali is to spread hate & act morally superior instead of truly doing good, helping others, and spreading happiness."

Earlier, an Irish man won hearts online after thanking his Indian girlfriend's mother in Hindi for a Diwali gift, saying, “Aapka parcel mila, very sundar." He thanked her for traditional treats like anarsa and laddoo.
