Woman Claims ‘Maid Didis’ Are ‘Becoming Entrepreneurs’ While Corporate Employees Continue To Struggle
A discussion about jobs and income in India has caught people’s attention online after a woman shared her thoughts about how some traditional services are earning more than many office roles. Her post focused on cleaning services and small businesses, which she said can sometimes bring in better money than entry-level corporate jobs.
The post quickly sparked a debate about career choices in India. Many users shared their views on entrepreneurship, jobs and how demand can affect income.
A Post Highlights Income From Cleaning Services
The discussion started when a woman shared a post on X talking about earnings in the cleaning service sector. She wrote, “Maids making 4.8 LPA."
She then explained that a platform called Snabbit allows people to book cleaning professionals for their homes. According to her post, many workers on the platform earn a steady monthly income.
“There is a platform called Snabbit where you can book maids for home cleaning. Many Snabbit cleaning experts earn around Rs 40,000 per month. That’s more than what many IT freshers earn," the post added.
The user said the example shows how some service jobs can now bring strong earnings. She also made a comparison with the technology sector, where many graduates compete for entry-level jobs.
“Real money is not in bug solving, it’s in bug cleaning. Maids have started becoming entrepreneurs. This is also the reality of modern India," she also added.
The post further pointed out that several small businesses are doing well despite the focus often being on corporate careers. She gave the example of a tea seller who built a well-known brand.
“Corporate employees are struggling while many people in traditional or service businesses are doing well. For example, Dolly Chaiwala built a huge brand selling tea and now reportedly sells franchises worth lakhs," the post also mentions.
She ended the post by saying that income today often depends more on creating value rather than holding a certain job title.
“Sometimes the internet glorifies only tech jobs, but the truth is different: Cleaning services, Food stalls, Tea businesses, Small local services. Many of them generate serious income. Meanwhile engineers with degrees are still chasing jobs. Maybe the lesson is simple: In today’s India, value creation matters more than job titles," the post ended.

The post was shared on March 12 and has received more than 60,000 views so far. It also drew several comments from users who had different opinions on the topic.

Another user said, “People in traditional businesses are breaking the mould, making their own ways. Sometimes it’s better to have a stable income than a fancy job title."
A person added a humorous comment, writing, “Turns out the real full-stack job is cleaning the whole house."
Another user spoke about opportunities in other service sectors as well. “Another money earner is … elder care. Attendants can charge from Rs. 1000 to Rs 2500 per day : food/boarding n miscellaneous expenses are taken care off. But yes, the job involves caring n washing n sponging … dirtiness ingrained. A lot of less educated n unemployed in it," the comment read.
Someone else wrote, “True. Young generation should try their luck in entrepreneurship rather than corporate job chase."
