But the short answer is — not yet. But it could be India’s largest airport in the future. Early reports and projections suggest that the Noida International Airport at Jewar could become one of the largest airports in India, possibly even in Asia, once fully developed. However, as of now, it is not India’s largest airport, and much depends on how future phases are implemented.
Following is a detailed breakdown of how Jewar Airport compares with the current largest airport in India:
Before delving into which airport in India is the ‘largest’, it’s important to establish what ‘largest’ refers to. Airports can be measured by land area, passenger capacity, number of runways and traffic handled.
