War 2 Box Office Day 5: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR Film Sees A Major Drop, Earns Rs 6.66 Cr
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's high-octane action entertainer War 2 continues its dream run at the Indian box office. Released on August 14 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, the Ayan Mukerji directorial has already established itself as one of the biggest films of the year, now inching closer to the Rs 180 crore mark in India.
On its fifth day, the film managed to maintain steady collections despite being a working Monday, showing minimal drop from the weekend. Backed by Yash Raj Films, the movie is carrying forward the legacy of the 2019 blockbuster War, and early trends suggest that it may cross the Rs 200 crore milestone within its first week.
War 2 Box Office Collection Day 5
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 collected Rs 6.66 crore on Monday, taking its total India net box office collection to Rs 179.13 crore. The film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 10.63% on August 18, 2025.
Occupancy in the southern states was stronger, with Tamil shows recording 18.67% occupancy and Telugu screenings clocking in at 17.48%. These numbers highlight the pan-India appeal of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's star power, particularly in South markets where the latter enjoys a massive fan following.
The film opened to an impressive Rs 52.5 crore on day one, jumped to Rs 57.35 crore on Friday, before slowing down over the weekend with Rs 33.25 crore on Saturday and further dipping on Sunday. Despite the weekend decline, the Monday hold has reassured trade experts about the film's strong weekday performance.
About War 2
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Yash Raj Films, War 2 is mounted on a massive budget of Rs 300–400 crore. Alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film also features Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana in crucial roles.
While Siddharth Anand's 2019 War had a stronger first Sunday at Rs 37.5 crore, the sequel has managed to create significant buzz, thanks to its scale, star power, and action-packed narrative.
However, reviews for the film have been mixed. News18 Showsha rated War 2 2.5/5, noting: “At 2 hours 50 minutes, War 2 tries to go full throttle but often skids into chaos. A thriller of this scale definitely needed crisper editing. Instead, what we get is a bunch of long-drawn flashbacks that dilute the pace… But what needs to be truly spoken about are its action sequences."
Despite criticism, the audience turnout suggests that Hrithik and Jr NTR's pairing is working its charm at the ticket counters, making War 2 one of the biggest box office events of 2025.
