Waking Early To Simple Meals, 7 ‘Boring’ Habits That Can Change Your Life
We're living in a time when even 24 hours a day feels too short to wrap up our hectic schedules. While juggling work and personal responsibilities, we often look for shortcuts, whether it's about eating healthy or staying fit. We end up reaching for junk food or searching for so-called “superfoods" that promise to fix everything. For workouts, we look up 10-minute exercise videos and feel frustrated when they don't transform our bodies in just 10 days.
However, if you want to witness real growth and notice a difference in your self, the key lies in building healthy and consistent habits. They might seem boring at first, but once you start noticing their positive impact, you'll realise they're worth it.

Dr Jeremy London, a US-based cardiothoracic surgeon, shared an Instagram post that has seven ‘boring' habits that he believes can completely transform your life.
Wake Up Early
The first habit on his list is to wake up early. Dr London said, “This may be a difficult one for many people. I have not been a morning person all of my life. In fact, for years, I hated to wake up early."
He explains that waking up early sets the tone for your entire day. It helps you feel calm and productive. Practise mindful activities like meditation or exercise in the morning sunlight.
Movement Is A Must
He said, “Movement is one of the single most important tools when it comes to our health span and our lifespan."
The idea isn't to do a rigorous workout; even walking can make a big difference. For example, take the stairs instead of the elevator or park your car a little farther from your destination and walk the rest of the way.
Get Sunlight
Dr London advises getting direct sunlight every day. He said, “Get sunlight into your eyes and onto your body every day."
Resistance training
He said, “As we age, after the age of 30, we lose muscle mass, about 10 percent per decade." In that case, resistance training, including weightlifting or bodyweight exercises, helps improve muscle strength, flexibility, and overall functional movement.
Cook At Home
Dr London suggests eating homemade food as much as possible. He said, “You don't have to cook 100 percent of the time. Sometimes it's not convenient, and you want to socialise. But if you can create a nutritional plan where you're cooking at home 80 percent of the time, that's a win."
Alcohol Is A Big No
Although waking up early can be challenging, Dr London said this next change was even harder for him. “I was spending all this time being mindful of what I ate, exercising, working on my sleep, and then I was actively poisoning my body."
Giving up alcohol, he adds, is one of the most impactful choices you can make to boost your overall health and energy levels.

“I hate to call this one boring, because for me, it's not," Dr London says. Recalling advice from his 89-year-old father, he added, “As you get older, be sure that you keep one or two close friends, someone who maintains an interest in you, and you in them. Because that's what makes life worth living.
