Vizag Shop Sells ‘More Than 100’ Induction Stoves In Just 2 Days Amid LPG Shortage: ‘Profit Hi Profit Hai’

Vizag Shop Sells ‘More Than 100’ Induction Stoves In Just 2 Days Amid LPG Shortage: ‘Profit Hi Profit Hai’
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which began with joint strikes by the US and Israel on Iran, has started affecting global supply chains of oil. The conflict, which began almost two weeks ago, has also resulted in a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shortage across India. The effects are already being felt in several cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, with restaurants and local businesses closing down for the time being.
Amid the crisis, one item whose sales have increased manifold is induction stoves, which use electricity instead of LPG. One man, whose father owns an electronics shop in Vizag, said people have been turning to induction stoves during the shortage. “People of Vizag are preparing themselves for a crisis, at least that is what the numbers say!" the caption of the post read.
Induction Stove Sales Increased Significantly
In the clip, he was seen walking beside his father as he asked, “How many induction cookers do we sell in a day?" The father answered that during normal conditions, they would generally sell 2-3 pieces. However, ever since the crisis hit India, the sales of induction stoves have increased significantly.
The man questioned his father about how many such stoves they have sold in just the last two days. The answer not only left him surprised but also took the internet aback. He said that they sold more than 100 pieces in just the last two days. He then went to their store, where he showed how the billing counter was filled with stacks of induction stoves.
“Right now at the billing counter, there are 10 induction stoves that are being sold at this moment," the man said, further sharing how his father predicted that the induction stove sales would increase due to the ongoing conflict. He added, “And surprisingly, my father actually predicted this, and he had placed an order for all these induction stoves five days in advance." Besides stoves, the sales of induction-safe cookware have also increased.
Internet Hails The Shop Owner For His Prediction
The clip, which went viral, has garnered over 4.2 million views. Reacting to it, one user said, “Dad is very smart!! Learn from him!!! Profit hi profit hai, dear."
“Your dad is doing better predictions than certain leaders," another quipped.
Someone else said, “Experience > Knowledge."
Bangalore Woman Shares That Induction Stoves Are Out Of Stock
Another clip has also caught the attention of social media users, where a woman shared that they were planning to buy an induction stove amid the ongoing conflict. However, once they started looking for it on online marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, and other quick e-commerce platforms, they were met with nothing but disappointment because the product was out of stock everywhere.
The woman, who is based in Bengaluru, wrote in the caption, “Lo mil gya Induction? #war #reels #bangalore #trending #crisis."
What’s The Government Doing To Ensure LPG Supply In India?
One of the major reasons behind the disruption is the impact on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transport routes. Since Iran is involved in the conflict, movement through this route has been affected. As a result, oil imports to India have taken a hit, triggering concerns about energy supply.
Shortage in LPG supply to commercial organisations has started affecting catering operations on trains and has led to the closure of many restaurants across India. In response to the situation, the Union government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act to ensure that LPG supply is prioritised for households, hospitals and other essential services. Commercial distribution has been restricted in certain areas as part of these measures.
