‘Vande Bharat Is New Sleeper Class’: IRCTC Staff Beat Each Other With Belts, Dustbins At Delhi’s Nizamuddin Station

Tension erupted at Delhi's Nizamuddin Railway Station on October 16 when a fight broke out among staff members of the 22470 Vande Bharat Express, bound for Gwalior. The clash happened before the train's departure and left passengers stunned. Many expressed concern over the incident, saying such behaviour harms the reputation of Indian Railways and the premium service of Vande Bharat trains.

Videos of the fight circulated widely on social media, showing staff members hitting each other with dustbins, belts, and fists. Observers and social media users criticised the aggression and demanded strict action, pointing out that employees showing such behaviour “do not deserve to represent the Indian Railways."

Chaos on the Platform

In the clip, about six to eight staff members are seen engaged in a chaotic fight. Some swing belts, while others throw dustbins at each other. A few staff members fall, get overpowered, and then get back into the fight. Passengers watch from a distance as the melee continues.

The Railway Protection Force eventually arrives to intervene, but the brawl continues even after their presence. The video lasts 1 minute and 19 seconds and ends without a clear resolution.

Here's How Social Media Reacted

The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has already received over 94,000 views. Comments from users ranged from sarcastic to critical.

A person wrote, “I guess this is the new ‘sleeper class.'"

Another joked, “0:30 Referee whistle maar rha hai."

Some questioned the absence of railway police, while others remarked on the shocking behaviour of the staff, saying, “This is how Indians behave because they never face serious consequences for their actions."

Railway Action Underway

The Railway administration has reportedly begun investigating the incident and has sought explanations from the involved employees.

So far, neither IRCTC nor Indian Railways has issued an official statement regarding the viral video.

A Similar Incident Happened Before

Earlier in May 2025, a similar video from the Vande Bharat Express went viral, showing a heated fight between two staff members. The clash took place between catering and cleaning personnel during a scheduled journey, with passengers witnessing the chaos unfold in real time.

Many travellers recorded the incident and shared it on social media, sparking widespread outrage and concern.
