UP Widow Pension Scheme Update: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared a hike in financial assistance under the state’s Widow Pension Scheme (Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana), benefiting nearly 1.06 crore people covered by various social pension programmes. Addressing the Assembly on Friday, he said provisions for the increase have been made in the state Budget, with further details to be discussed during the budget debate.
To be eligible, the woman must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh, and the annual income of her household should be below Rs 3 lakh. The benefit is meant for women who have lost their husbands, subject to other prescribed criteria under the scheme.
The Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) is a Central government programme that offers monthly financial support, generally between Rs 300 and Rs 500, to widows aged 40 to 79 years belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
After assuming office, the Yogi government had raised the state pension amount to Rs 1,000 per month. In its 2022 poll manifesto, it pledged to further enhance the pension to Rs 1,500 per month, a promise the Chief Minister has now reaffirmed. At present, about 67.50 lakh beneficiaries receive old-age pensions, 38.50 lakh women are covered under the destitute pension scheme, and nearly 11 lakh persons avail disability pensions across the state.

Fill in personal details, bank account information, and income particulars in the online form.
Upload required documents, including the husband’s death certificate, age proof, bank passbook, and a recent photograph.
Eligible women, Uttar Pradesh residents above 18 years and living below the poverty line, can receive Rs 1,000 per month under the scheme.
Visit the Unified Social Pension Portal of Uttar Pradesh and select the “Nirashrit Mahila Pension” (Widow Pension) scheme.
Click on the “Apply Online” option to start the registration process.
Complete the application form by providing required details such as personal information, income data, and bank account particulars.
Upload a passport-size photograph and scanned copies of all necessary supporting documents.
Submit the application and note down the registration number and password received on your mobile for tracking and future reference.
