On Cam: Ujjain Railway Cop Thrashes Disabled Man Sleeping On Platform, Triggers Public Uproar— ‘Arrest Him’

On a day dedicated to honouring the dignity and rights of persons with disabilities, a disturbing incident from Madhya Pradesh sparked widespread outrage. A video circulating on social media showed a Government Railway Police (GRP) head constable assaulting a specially abled man at Nagda railway station in Ujjain district on Wednesday, December 3, the very day the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed.

The incident reportedly took place on Platform 1 of Nagda station, about 60 km from Ujjain. The man with disabilities had been sleeping beside his bag when GRP Head Constable Mansingh, dressed in civilian clothes, approached him and began assaulting him. The attack was recorded by a passenger in an AC coach and later shared on social media.

Cop Slaps And Kicks Man With Disabilities

In the clip, the head constable is seen slapping and kicking the man multiple times. Mansingh even dragged him by the legs and repeatedly slapped him across the face. The helpless victim, crying, tried to gather his belongings and walk away. Once the video surfaced, it sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding the arrest of the head constable.

Internet Asks For The “Arrest" Of The Cop

One user said, “If u want a civilised society, this man should be behind bars."

“The constable has not only committed a crime, but when viewed from a moral and spiritual perspective, it is a sin. Not only should the constable be suspended, but he should also lose his job, and this punishment should serve as a lesson not just for the constable but against such a mentality. The constable should also receive legal punishment," another added.

“Justice Served? Does the affected even know that the official has been suspended? Very Disturbing. We as a humanity have lost it all," a different person shared.

“I feel so terrible watching that," someone else wrote.

As the video gained traction on social media, GRP Superintendent of Padma Vilochan Shukla ordered the immediate suspension of Mansingh. The suspension was issued within hours of the clip surfacing on social media. Mansingh later claimed that the man with disabilities was drunk and used abusive language, but his explanation did not justify his violence. The GRP SP stated that the head constable's action tarnished the reputation of the police force in the eyes of the public, violated several rules of conduct, and displayed “gross negligence, misconduct, and indiscipline."

Mansingh has now reportedly been attached to the Railway Police Line in Indore and is barred from leaving headquarters without permission.
