U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she is resigning in January 2026; ‘great news for country,’ says Trump

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a once-loyal supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump who has become a critic, said Friday she is resigning from Congress in January 2026.

Mr. Trump and Ms. Greene have fallen out in a public feud. The Republican Congresswoman from Georgia has criticised Mr. Trump's foreign policy focus and his reluctance to release more documents related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mr. Trump responded by supporting a primary challenge against her and called her “Wacky” Marjorie

Reacting to the news, U.S. President Trump said on Friday (November 21) that Ms. Greene's announcement was “great news for the country,” ABC News reported. “I think it's great news for the country. It's great,” ABC News quoted him as saying in an interview.

“Nah, it doesn't matter, you know but I think it's great. I think she should be happy,” Mr. Trump said when asked if Ms. Greene had given him a heads up.
