Two Arrested In Itanagar For Spying On Army Installations For Pakistani Handlers

In a major security breakthrough, police in Arunachal Pradesh have arrested two individuals for allegedly spying on Indian Army movements and defence installations in the frontier state.

The accused, identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir, were picked up from Ganga village and Abotani Colony in the Itanagar Capital Region. Nazir, a resident of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, is believed to be the key link to the Pakistani handlers.

According to police sources, the duo had been gathering sensitive information related to Army deployments and key military facilities in Arunachal Pradesh. They allegedly transmitted these details to Pakistan through an encrypted Telegram channel named AL AQSA, which was used for covert communication with handlers across the border.

Officials said Nazir had been receiving direct instructions from the handlers, including directives aimed at destabilising Army installations in the state.

Police have launched a deeper probe to uncover the full extent of the espionage network. Arunachal Police have identified a few more individuals and further action is underway.

Several local organisations in the state have recently been active about unregulated mosque construction and the movement of suspicious individuals, urging authorities to maintain tighter vigilance.
