Transition Beers, A Look At Brews That Bridge The Gap From Summer To Autumn

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, you know that winter is coming. The hot, summery days and the long rainy evenings will soon transition to cold winter nights. And while the seasons shift, it is not just the weather that's transitioning but also our palates, which begin to crave warmer beverages and hearty meals.

This change can also apply to people's tastes in beer. But it is not necessary that we are ready for the robust, barrel-aged behemoths of deep winter, nor are we still reaching exclusively for the zesty, sessionable lagers of high summer. This in-between period calls for a special kind of brew – what we like to call “transition beers". These sippers act as a connection to bridge the gap.
