Tirupati laddus during YSRCP rule had bathroom cleaning chemicals: Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu makes a serious accusation. He claims laddus at the Tirupati temple were made with adulterated ghee during the previous YSRCP government. In an explosive claim, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today claimed that during the previous YSRCP government, the laddus prepared at the Tirupati temple were made using ghee adulterated with “chemicals used to clean bathrooms”.
While addressing a village meeting at Kalugotla village in Kurnool district, the chief minister said the adulteration continued for five years.
Citing a report by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Naidu said animal fat was used in the laddus. He however did not elaborated "keeping the sanctity of Lord Venkateswara Swamy in mind".
The Andhra CM also refused YSRCP leaders' claims that a CBI-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) had given a clean chit on the issue saying that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's uncle and YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy had himself acknowledged that adulteration had taken place.
Naidu said his government had attempted to correct what he described as the desecration of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) by ensuring the use of pure ingredients in prasadam. He claimed there was a noticeable difference between the laddus prepared now and those made earlier.
At a press conference on Thursday, Naidu said no one involved in the alleged adulteration would be spared and announced the formation of a one-man committee to implement corrective measures based on an SIT report. He described the alleged adulteration of Tirumala laddu prasadam as a serious offence against devotees' faith and maintained that no report had exonerated the YSRCP government.
Calling ghee adulteration the “greatest sin against God”, Naidu alleged that a 2022 report by the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), prepared during the YSRCP regime, had “clearly stated that there was adulteration”, but claimed the irregularities continued regardless.
Responding to the allegations, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy said the 2022 CFTRI report did not mention the presence of animal fat in the ghee used for the consecrated sweet, though it reportedly observed adulteration. He denied the TDP-led NDA government's charge that he had suppressed the report.
“If it was suppressed, then why would I even write to CFTRI to test the samples in the first place?” Subba Reddy asked. He alleged that despite the SIT report clearing the matter, the state government was continuing to make false claims and put up hoardings blaming the YSRCP.
