This Retro-Style Landline Phone Can Take Your WhatsApp And FaceTime Calls: How It Works

Landline phones have become a relic mostly because of smartphones and very rarely you see people using them anymore. However, this company is looking to give landlines a modern U-Turn which not only lets you take calls but also supports WhatsApp and FaceTime calls.

The new device called Physical Phones has been described as a retro-style landline that has buttons and support for Bluetooth which lets you pair it with the smartphone. It is an intriguing take on landline phones that have primarily worked around the regular calls, or at best let you connect to the internet with the dial up connections.

Physical Phones: Landline For WhatsApp Calls?

The new landline phone is basically there to limit your smartphone usage by pairing with the device and letting you take the calls old school style. You can go to Bluetooth on your phone settings and allow the Physical Phone to handle all the calling tasks.

So, how does the phone actually work? The company has set up a mechanism where the device rings whenever you get a call on the phone. You can also click on the Star button to call out the name of the contact and have Siri connect the call with the person.

Physical Phones come in five different styles and the prices start from $90 (Rs 8,100 approx) going up to $110 (Rs 9,900 approx). The company will have some of the units available by Christmas and the rest will be open for pre-order in February 2026.

Landline phones have served their purpose and most people now need a portable option which is why smartphones are the rage. Yes, some might say that having a landline at home is a handy option and also reduces the use of the screen when not needed but this device feels like a product that nobody really asked for, but might just get one for its novelty value.

Having said that, this device comes with a battery that needs to be charged, and adding one more gadget to your daily needs.

The company has made the Physical Phones in five designs and even though it is expensive, you are just getting a bridge device that eventually comes back to the smartphone.
