'The Peace President': White House cheers for Trump ahead of Nobel announcement. What are his chances of wining?

The President of the United States has repeatedly sought the Nobel spotlight since his first term, most recently telling United Nations delegates late last month “everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize.”

What Trump said on winning Nobel Prize
Earlier, when asked about his chances of winning the prize, Trump told reporters, “I have no idea… Marco would tell you we settled seven wars. We're close to settling an eighth. I think we'll end up settling the Russia situation… I don't think anybody in history has settled that many. But perhaps they'll find a reason not to give it to me.”“Nobody's ever done that," he told a gathering of military leaders at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. “Will you get the Nobel Prize? Absolutely not. They'll give it to some guy that didn't do a damn thing.”

The White House has promoted US President Donald Trump as 'The Peace President' ahead of the Nobel Peace Prize announcement. Trump has claimed to have settled seven global conflicts. However, experts suggest his chances are slim due to his approach to international cooperation and climate change. The Nobel Committee prioritizes lasting peace and behind-the-scenes efforts.
Ahead of the Nobel Peace prize announcement, the White House Thursday shared a photo of US President Donald Trump on social media, hailing him as "The Peace President". Despite claiming that he has settled 'seven' global conflicts, including that of India and Pakistan, Donald Trump himself has seemed skeptical about his prospects of winning the Nobel Peace Prize. The White House post can be seen as an indirect projection of Trump as a potential Nobel laureate.
The President of the United States has repeatedly sought the Nobel spotlight since his first term, most recently telling United Nations delegates late last month “everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Trump has asserted that he acted as a peacemaker in up to seven conflicts, including the brief four-day clash between India and Pakistan in May—a claim that New Delhi has consistently rejected. India has maintained that no third party mediation was involved in the ceasefire between the two countries.

Trump has repeatedly highlighted his peace efforts, and several countries, including Pakistan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Rwanda, have previously nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also backed Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, hours after the US president announced a ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.
On several occasions, Trump has said he deserves a Nobel prize for doing what he says "nobody has done". But it's unclear whether his name comes up in conversation when the five-member Nobel committee, appointed by Norway's parliament, meets behind closed doors.
When Trump was nominated for Nobel peace prize
Since 2018, Donald Trump has received multiple nominations from both US citizens and international politicians. Most recently, in December, US Representative Claudia Tenney (R-NY) put his name forward, her office stated, citing his role in brokering the Abraham Accords, which in 2020 established normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations.ALSO READ: Arturo Gatti Jr found dead while on vacation with his mother? The Nobel Peace Prize, presented each year by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, is one of the world's most esteemed awards, honoring individuals or organizations that have made remarkable contributions to advancing peace. Though Trump was nominated during his first term, though he did not receive the prize.
The 79-year-old Republican leader has long wanted the Nobel Peace Prize, often questioning why his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, was given the award in his first year in office. Despite the nomination deadline passing on January 31, several of Trump's associates—aware of his susceptibility to flattery—publicly championed him for the award.
What experts say
Experts note that the Norwegian Nobel Committee usually emphasizes lasting peace, fostering international cooperation, and the behind-the-scenes efforts of institutions that support these aims. Some suggest that Trump's own track record could work against him, pointing to his apparent skepticism toward multilateral organizations and his dismissal of global climate change issues.ALSO READ: Charlie Kirk's chilling messages on Israel two days before his tragic death were genuine? "There's a huge difference between getting fighting to stop in the short-term and resolving the root causes of the conflict,” Theo Zenou, a historian and research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society said.
Zenou also highlighted Trump's dismissive stance on climate change as out-of-step with what many, including the Nobel committee, see as the planet's greatest long-term peace challenge. “I don't think they would award the most prestigious prize in the world to someone who does not believe in climate change,” Zenou said. “When you look at previous winners who have been bridge-builders, embodied international cooperation and reconciliation: These are not words we associate with Donald Trump.”
And Trump's own outspokenness about possibly winning the award might work against him: The committee won't want to be seen as caving in to political pressure, said Nina Græger, director of the Peace Research Institute Oslo. Trump's prospects for the prize this year are “a long shot,” she said. “His rhetoric does not point in a peaceful perspective.”
