A few days ago, reports about Shubhangi Atre's exit from the popular comedy show ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' surfaced on the Internet. Reports claimed that Shilpa Shinde has been approached by the makers to replace Shubhangi as Angoori Bhabhi. Now, Shubhangi herself has confirmed her exit from the show. The actress, who took up this role in 2016 after Shilpa Shinde's exit, shared that it's a blessing in disguise as she wishes to now explore new characters. While she didn't reveal the reason behind quitting Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, she wished Shilpa all the best for taking up this role once again.

While speaking with Bombay Times, Shubhangi Atre said that she is walking away with nothing but gratitude. She said that she filmed her final episode last week. “I always promised Mrs Kohli that my journey in the show would start with aan, baan aur shaan and that is exactly how it would end too. I could not have asked for a better exit. There is no point delving into the reasons for the replacement. I see it as a blessing in disguise because as an artiste, I want to explore new characters. The idea is to step out of here and start looking for work again. After seeing so much in life, I am in fighter mode now and focused only on my daughter and my work," she said.

The actress revealed that bidding goodbye to the show after almost a decade was extremely emotional and felt like leaving home. She then recalled replacing Shilpa Shinde as Angoori Bhabhi in 2016. “Replacing someone is never easy. When you create a character from scratch, you shape it through your own personality and experiences. But when you take on a role that already exists, you have to retain the nuances without making it seem like a copy and still build your own connection with the audience. I am grateful that viewers accepted me with so much love. In the end, I am satisfied that I did my work with honesty and dedication," she said.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Shubhangi has portrayed a character earlier played by Shilpa. In Chidiya Ghar, she took on the role of Koyal Narayan before Shilpa later resumed it. Confirming Shilpa stepping in as Angoori Bhabhi once again in Bhabiji, Shubhangi said, “I just want to say that I am ending this replacement game now. I told my mum that Shilpa left the show in nine to ten months, so it felt like she handed me a newborn baby. I raised that baby for ten years and now I am returning it to her. I gave it values and sanskars, and I am passing it back with a full heart. I wish Shilpa all the very best and also the entire team for the 2.0 version of the show. She is a fantastic actor, and I am genuinely fond of her."

Shilpa Shinde's Exit From Bhabiji In 2016

Shilpa Shinde became a household name after she played the role of Angoori Bhabhi in the sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. However, her sudden exit from the show in March 2016 stirred a massive controversy. Shinde quit the show citing “mental torture" by the makers, claiming that she was being asked to sign an exclusivity contract that prevented her from doing other shows and alleging unprofessionalism. She also alleged that she was owed money and that there was discrimination in the provision of staff and support.

Later, the production house also sent her a legal notice alleging breach of contract. The show's makers accused her of unprofessional conduct.
