‘She Wasn’t Waking Up’: Delhi Man Says Blinkit Ambulance 6-Min Service Saved His Grandmother
Many e-commerce platforms have been heavily criticised for their “10-minute delivery" promise. Concerns have been raised about delivery partners who risk their lives to meet this deadline. While there is focus on the pressure this creates, there are instances where the same platforms have been used to save lives.
Shivam Kukreja from Delhi shared one such incident that unfolded at his home. In a LinkedIn post, he explained how Blinkit's ambulance service helped his grandmother at a critical moment.
Blinkit Ambulance Service Saves Delhi Man's Grandmother
It was around 8:00 AM when Shivam's grandmother suddenly collapsed at home. “She wasn't waking up, but her heart was still beating. We were confused and terrified," he wrote. The family immediately called 112, but the ambulance was taking longer than expected, and in moments like these, every second feels endless.
Shivam then remembered Blinkit's ambulance feature. He quickly opened the app and saw that help could arrive in six minutes. Without thinking twice, he placed the request.
Help Arrives In Minutes
Within one minute, Shivam received a confirmation call from Blinkit. Four minutes later, an ambulance reached his home, accompanied by two trained nurses.
“They quickly checked her vitals—BP, sugar levels—and found that her blood sugar had dropped to 40. They acted immediately, gave her a drip, and within 10 minutes, my grandmother regained consciousness. They then safely transported her to the hospital," he added.
‘A Solution Built To Save Lives'
Shivam was surprised when he asked about the charges. “This is Blinkit's trust. We do this for free," the nurses said. Even when he tried to offer a tip, they politely refused. Shivam reflected on the experience, saying, “Instead of just donating to an NGO, they identified a real problem and built a solution that saves lives."
“With all the debate and criticism around '10-minute deliveries,' experiences like this remind us of the real impact technology and private companies can have when used responsibly," he stated.
Shivam also noted the small donation prompts on Blinkit and Zomato, adding, “From now on, I'm never removing that Rs 1–Rs 2 donation prompt at checkout. Because sometimes, those small contributions add up to something life-saving."

Another said, “People often criticize 10-minute delivery for putting pressure on delivery partners. But this incident shows its other side. If a company has a network in every corner of the city, using that network for ambulance or emergency services is a revolutionary step."
“Today I realised that not every feature is just for business; this one is genuinely life-saving," someone else expressed.
“Appreciate it….I can correlate as I have also suffered from the fact that my father was a diabetic patient and I knew what kind of situation is this. Hats off to the service providers," a person added.
“It's a truly excellent social initiative that companies like Blinkit are undertaking, and this incident has proven that companies don't just deliver essential household goods but can also reach ambulances on time to save humanity," an individual shared.
A commenter remarked, “If this is true, then I will not complain about paying 1-2 extra every time while doing orders."

Currently, Blinkit's ambulance service operates in Gurugram, Manesar and select areas of Delhi like Greater Kailash and Lajpat Nagar.
