'She Doesn't Like It': Farah Khan Reveals If She Unfollowed Deepika Padukone After Fallout Rumours
Last night, social media went into a storm when it came to light that Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan don't follow each other on Instagram. Deepika was launched by Farah in Om Shanti Om, and they have maintained a close friendship over the years. This comes after Farah Khan's recent vlog where she was talking to her cook Dilip about Deepika's long 8-hour work shift. Soon, fans started saying that Farah was taking a dig at her. On Monday, some reports also said that Farah and Deepika had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Farah Khan breaks silence
Farah Khan has now spoken up about it. While talking to Pinkvilla, she revealed, “To begin with, we were not following each other earlier, too!! We had made a pact during the Happy New Year shoot that we wouldn't communicate on Instagram, instead, direct message and call. We don't even wish birthday wishes on Insta because Deepika doesn't like it."
Farah further said, “Also, my 8-hour comment wasn't a dig it was to make Dilip say that he will now also work 8 hours when he actually works just for 2 hours!"
The filmmaker added that she was one of the first people to visit Deepika when baby Dua was born. She said that not every moment is meant for Instagram or the cameras.
Farah also spoke against the rising trend of fake controversies. She recalled an incident last week when people claimed that she and Karan Johar ignored Aayush Sharma on the red carpet, even though they had actually met him earlier.
“It can genuinely cause problems between people. Thankfully, I pick up the phone and call them before it gets worse! But people need to stop doing this," she said.
Farah and Deepika have shared the screen in Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year, both of which were major box office hits.
Farah Khan took digs at Deepika Padukone?
In one of her YouTube vlogs, Farah Khan visited Radhikka Madan when the latter recalled her first audition for Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi. When Farah asked, “You didn't have an 8-hour shift, I am guessing?", Radhikka replied, “56 hours non-stop or 48 hours non-stop." At this point, Farah hinted that even she does not support an 8-hour work shift and shared, “Aise tapke hi toh sona banta hai (this is how gold is made)."
More recently, Farah Khan visited Rohit Saraf's house with Dilip. The actor revealed that his mother appeared on camera for the first time for Farah's vlog and that she had made them wait for a year. Farah jokingly replied, “Haan itna time toh Deepika Padukone ne nahi lagaya mujhe haan bolne mein."
Farah's cook Dilip then asked when Deepika Padukone will come to their show, to which Farah cheekily replied that she only shoots for 8 hours now, and doesn't have time to come on their vlog. “Deepika Padukone ma'am kab aayengi humare show main (when will Deepika ma'am come to our show)?" asked Dilip.
Farah replied, “Jiss din tu gaon jaayega naa uss din aayegi (the day you go to your village)." She further added, “Deepika Padukone ab sirf 8 ghanta shoot karti hai, usko show pe aane ka time nahi hai (She now shoots only for 8 hours, she doesn't have time to come to our show)."
Deepika Padukone's exit from Kalki 2 and Spirit
Deepika Padukone has once again been in the news after it was announced that she will no longer be part of Prabhas starrer Kalki 2. Earlier this year, her sudden exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit had already surprised fans. Reports suggest that her demands, which included eight-hour workdays, a high fee, and a share in the film's profits, did not align with the director's plans. Similar reasons are being cited for her departure from Kalki 2.
