Debarghya Das, widely known as Deedy Das, a partner at Menlo Ventures, recently highlighted that the founders of several companies valued at over $100 million, established in the past decade, were members of a Computer Science club in a non-American high school. These companies include Cartesia, Inception Labs, General Catalyst CVF, Wispr Flow, Affinity, Snapdeal, Sugar, boAt, Mirage, and Fulcrum.
In a post on the social media platform X, Das mentioned that each founder of these companies was part of the same Computer Science club at a high school in Delhi. The post, which at the time had more than 485,000 views and over 1,600 likes, stated that the founders were part of the Exun Clan in Delhi Public School, RK Puram.

2010: According to the post, e-commerce company Snapdeal was founded by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, last valued at $1 billion. While Bahl studied at Penn, Bansal graduated from IIT Delhi.
2012: Makeup company Sugar Cosmetics, founded by Vineeta Singh, last valued between $250-500 million. Singh graduated from IIT Madras.
2016: boAt was founded by Aman Gupta. The company was last valued at over $1 billion. Gupta graduated from Delhi University.
2016: Heart healthcare company Recora, founded by Abhishek Chandra, last valued at over $1 billion. Chandra graduated from Yale University.
2017: Customer management company Affinity, founded by Shubham Goel, last valued between $500 million and $1 billion. Goel graduated from Stanford University.
2020: Venture financing company General Catalyst CVF, founded by Karanveer Mohan was last valued at over $1 billion. Mohan also graduated from Stanford.
2021: Wispr Flow was founded by Tanay Kothari, and it was last valued at over $250 million. Kothari is also an alumnus of Stanford.
2023: Karan Goel was one of the founding member of Cartesia. It was last valued between $500 million to $1 billion. Goel graduated from IIT Delhi.
2024: Inception Lab was founded by Aditya Grover. It's valued at over $250 million. Grover is also an alumnus of IIT Delhi.
