Sensex Ends 446 Points Higher, Nifty At 26,192; Financial Stocks Rise
Sensex Today: Indian equity markets closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Sensex and Nifty50 edging closer to their record highs last seen in September 2024, boosted by strong buying in Financials and Oil & Gas stocks. Positive global cues also supported market sentiment.
The BSE Sensex hit an intraday high of 85,801.70 before settling at 85,632.68, up 446.21 points or 0.52 percent.
Similarly, the Nifty50 touched a new 52-week high of 26,246.65 and ended 139.50 points or 0.54 percent higher at 26,192.15.
In the broader market, trends were mixed. The Nifty SmallCap 100 slipped 0.05 percent, while the Nifty MidCap 100 closed marginally higher, gaining 0.02 percent.
Asian markets were trading solidly in the green. Japan's Nikkei surged 3.62%, China's CSI 300 gained 0.47%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.65%, and South Korea's KOSPI advanced 2.5%.
Overnight, US markets also closed higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.10%, the S&P 500 gained 0.38%, and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.59%.
