Samsung is preparing one of its biggest software upgrades of the year with the release of One UI 8, powered by Android 16. The update is already live on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series, and now attention turns to which other Galaxy devices will receive it next. With fresh design elements, stronger controls and new features, One UI 8 is set to enhance the daily experience of millions of users.
The beta version has been rolled out in India, Germany, the UK and the USA for the Galaxy S25 series, including the S25+, and S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 series has also joined the testing phase, giving its users a preview of the upgrade. Reports also indicate that the Galaxy S23 series has been spotted running the beta at test centres, which means it too is being readied for the full rollout.
Although Samsung has not announced an exact date, reports suggest that the Galaxy S25 series could be the first to get the stable version, possibly as early as next month. Following that, the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are expected to be updated. By the end of the year, Samsung is likely to extend One UI 8 across the Galaxy A, S and M series, along with Galaxy tablets.
The supported device list is already shaping up to be quite extensive. Flagship lines such as the Galaxy S25, S24, S23 and S22 will be included. Samsung's foldables, from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 to the Fold 5, Flip 5, Fold 4 and Flip 4, will also receive the update. Tablet users will not be left behind, with the Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S9 and Tab S8 series confirmed. Even the Galaxy A55 and A35 are part of the rollout, giving mid-range users access to the new features as well.
Dynamic wallpapers are one of the most visible additions, giving devices a refreshing look that adapts to usage. Multitasking has also been improved, allowing one app to remain active while another is used in split-screen, making productivity tasks more fluid. For users who often share content across Galaxy devices, the upgraded Quick Share will make transfers faster and smoother.
Another highlight is group audio sessions with Auracast, which makes it possible for multiple people to join in and listen together. Alongside this, Samsung is adding more personalised recommendations, tailoring the device experience to each user's habits and preferences.
Samsung's One UI 8 update represents a significant step forward in its software evolution. With an emphasis on design refinements, improved multitasking, and greater connectivity, it will provide Galaxy users with a more polished and intelligent experience. As the stable version rolls out in stages, a wide audience of users will soon be able to take advantage of the many improvements that One UI 8 brings.
