Samay Raina Reacts To India's Got Latent Season 2 Being Toned Down: 'Log Keh Rahe Voh Baat Nahi Rahi'

Got Question about the News?

When Samay Raina returned with India’s Got Latent season 2, all eyes were on the comedian as fans were eager to see how he would navigate the show after all the legal battles. However, many were disappointed as they felt the show had become too filtered and didn’t have the same level of humour as season 1. Samay has now reacted to these comments.

Samay Raina Reacts To India’s Got Latent 2 Being Toned Down

Towards the end of the 5th episode of India’s Got Latent 2, which was released on August 28, Samay teased the next episode as the screen read, “Next episode for the OG Latent fans." Samay attached a clip from the upcoming drop, in which he said, “Pata hai maine itne time baad show shuru kiya hai."

Rakhi Sawant To Return In Next Episode?

“Toh maine thoda halka haath rakha shuru shuru ke 2-3 episode main. Haina? Toh log keh rahe hain, ‘Voh baat nahi nahi rahi.’ Make some noise for Rakhi Sawant," Samay added as the crowd erupted in applause. A woman then walked towards the stage, but her face was covered with a mask.

Ashish Chanchlani Defended Samay Raina Against Criticism

Previously, Ashish Chanchlani defended Samay’s show following social media comments about it being too unfiltered. After the first episode, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, surfaced online, many pointed out that the comedian had toned down the show quite noticeably. Ashish, who was also involved in the controversy surrounding season 1, took to Instagram to explain Samay’s viewpoint.

The content creator wrote, “For people saying Latent is too filtered or has lost its charm and shit… Just remember we had to fight a year-long legal battle where we promised to stay in line and make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. It was almost an uncertainty that this show will come back."

“But somehow @maisamayhoon made sure he brings it back for y’all. He has fought countless battles behind the scenes. It was an uphill, almost impossible pipe dream for S2 to even exist. Kabhi kabhi kuch cheeze karni padti hai… So please support karo usko aur enjoy karo," he concluded.

India’s Got Latent Season 2 Episode 5 Panel

The latest episode featured Orry, Archana Puran Singh, Sharon Verma and Nishant Suri as panellists. It remains to be seen whether Rakhi Sawant will return in season 2 or if the woman behind the mask will turn out to be someone else.

Samay Raina teased Rakhi Sawant as a panellist for the next episode of India's Got Latent Season 2, stating it would be for "OG fans". However, a woman with a masked face walked onto the stage, so it is not yet confirmed if it will be Rakhi Sawant or someone else.

Samay Raina faced multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) and legal complaints over allegedly obscene remarks made during an episode of India's Got Latent Season 1. These legal proceedings continued throughout 2025, with the Supreme Court hearing petitions related to the case.

Samay Raina's India's Got Latent Season 2 has become more controlled, with some "out of line" jokes being dropped. The show now features an 11-member legal team to vet content and manage legal risks, and a 12-member legal team to vet jokes, contracts, sponsors, and compliance. Raina himself has acknowledged that some viewers feel the show has been toned down.
