Rimjhim – Choti Umar Bada Safar has sparked major controversy with its latest episode. Although the serial has a huge fanbase, it has grabbed attention for the wrong reasons after showing an intimate scene which involved 16-year-old star Yashika Sharma.
The clip where Yashika Sharma gets intimate with her 24-year-old co-star, Himanshu Awasthie, has left netizens furious. The audience flooded social media with angry comments, stating how inappropriate the scene was.

In the clip, Himanshu was seen taking off his kurta in front of Yashika. He then pulls her closer and covers her upper body with the kurta. After noticing her blouse had come undone, Himanshu tied the laces into a knot. He then puts the veil on her head and embraces her with a warm hug.
In another scene, the two stars were seen together in bed as the camera focused on Yashika's bare back. The intimate scenes sparked huge outrage online, with netizens demanding a ban on the serial.

Soon after the episode was aired, clips and screenshots of the scenes started making the rounds on social media. “I have mailed a few authorities to ban this show. I'm done with shit shows. “What is happening recently on ITV?" one user wrote.

Despite facing such backlash, the makers of Rimjhim – Choti Umar Bada Safar have not yet released any official statements.

Rimjhim – Choti Umar Bada Safar is described as a “royal family saga amid palace politics, secrets, and betrayal" in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Unlike the widely popular serial Balika Vadhu, which featured minor actors and looked at the dangers of child marriage, Rimjhim is not critical of the protagonist's relationship with an adult.
This was not the first time that Shashi Sumeet Productions has faced such claims. Previously, their 2017 show Pehredaar Piya Ki showed a 9-year-old boy marrying a 19-year-old. The show, which featured Tejasswi Prakash as the female lead, received huge criticism for romantic moments between the leads.
The production company defended the show, saying that the petition was filed by those who have not even watched the show.
