Remember Me? Eze Winner Sinks Crystal Palace As Arsenal Extend Premier League Lead

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday with their win over Crystal Palace at the Emirates as Eberechi Eze netted the lone strike against his former club to give the Londoners the win.

Eze netted the only goal of the game in the 39th minute against his former club as Arsenal took their tally for the season to 22 points.

Arsenal were also handed a boost in their pursuit of the coveted PL title as Manchester City slumped to a 0-1 defeat at Villa Park as Unai Emery's Aston Villa registered a 1-0 win over the former champions.

“It's very early, we're still in October," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told the BBC.

“The emotional state is really high but there are a lot of things to get better," the Spaniard added.

“The technique is unbelievable," the Gunners boss said singling out Eze's strike as the new recruit demonstrated incredible poise and ability to hammer the ball into the back of the net to send the Emirates into wild celebration.

Matty Cash's 19th minute lone strike proved to be the telling touch of the day as the Villans climbed to seventh in the table with 15 points in 9 games.

Bournemouth lifted themselves up to the second spot in the table with their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest as Sean Dyche's men came up short on the road. Marcus Tavernier and Eli Junior Kroupi netted for the Cherries as Sunderland were pushed to third.

City's defeat meant they slid to fourth in the standings followed by resurgent Manchester United, who stand fifth level on points with City at 16, and separated only by goal difference.

Oliver Glasner and Co. were pushed to 10th in the table as a result of their defeat, behind Chelsea in 9th following their defeat to Sunderland a day earlier.
