Rekha Gupta Attack: The attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta triggered a massive political row with the ruling BJP alleging a conspiracy by the “rivals". BJP leader Harish Khurana claimed that the accused, identified as Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakriya, was linked with AAP and also shared a photograph of the attacker with party leader Gopal Italia.

Rekha Gupta Attack: The attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta triggered a massive political row with the ruling BJP alleging a conspiracy by the “rivals".
BJP leader Harish Khurana claimed that the accused, identified as Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakriya, was linked with AAP and also shared a photograph of the attacker with party leader Gopal Italia.
While launching a scathing attack on the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, Khurana said that what was suspected has been proved by this photograph.
“What was suspected has happened. The photo with @ArvindKejriwal's close associate @Gopal_Italia says a lot. It clearly seems that the attack on @gupta_rekha ji today is connected to @AamAadmiParty. Kejriwal ji, please explain, “What is this relationship called?" Amazing," he said in a post on X along with the photo.

Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also said that Gupta's rivals cannot tolerate her work on the ground, indicating that the attack was due to political reasons. A probe is on to find out who is behind the attacker, said the senior BJP leader.
However, the AAP soon responded to the allegations, saying that the viral image circulation on social media was created using AI, and the attacker is in no way linked to the AAP.
The party hit out at the BJP, saying that the Moti Nagar MLA is defaming the BJP itself by using an AI-generated photo and spreading fake information.

It also released the original video of Italia, claimed to have been recorded on August 2, where he is seen standing and interacting with another person.
Meanwhile, AAP leaders and former Chief Ministers, Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, have both said that violence holds no place in a democracy; however, Saurabh Bharadwaj recalled that Kejriwal himself came under attack several times in the past.
“Whenever someone attacked Arvind Kejriwal ji, within no time, the talented officers of Delhi Police would plant news in the media on why the attacker was “angry" with Kejriwal. Now that the government and Chief Minister have changed, the talented police officers are in a dilemma," he said.
On the other hand, an AAP MLA grabbed headlines for claiming that her own man staged the attack to create drama and avoid discussion on the national capital's civic issues.
Speaking to reporters, AAP MLA Anil Jha said, “This was not an attack. I have known her for a long time. No attack took place. She orchestrated this attack and arranged a man to create a story."
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public grievance hearing on Wednesday morning at her residence in Civil Lines in the national capital. The incident occurred during CM Gupta's weekly ‘Jan Sunwai' at her residence, where citizens come to present grievances.
The Delhi Police, examining the CCTV footage of the attack, found that the assault and the intervention by the security lasted 80 seconds, sources told CNN-News18.
Sakriya was standing in a queue to meet the Chief Minister and had nearly five people before him. He suddenly breached the queue and approached Gupta with the documents he was carrying.
Sakriya first slapped her, it was known, after which she stumbled against a wall. The accused then grabbed the Chief Minister by her hair, sources informed.

Soon after, the accused was taken over by the Chief Minister's security staff and others present at the location.
The police also registered an attempt to murder case against the accused for attacking the Delhi Chief Minister.
