Ranbir Kapoor confirmed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War has been postponed, hinting that Ramayana Part One will release first, pushing the film further into 2026.
Ranbir Kapoor is currently looking forward to the release of two of his most anticipated films, Ramayana Part One and Love & War. While Ramayana is aiming for a Diwali 2026 release, fans have been awaiting a confirmation on the release of his other film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, considering there are rumours of it being postponed. Now, Ranbir Kapoor has finally addressed the ongoing chatter.
Ranbir Kapoor celebrated his lifestyle brand ARKS’s first anniversary on Saturday and went live on the brand’s Instagram handle, where, while interacting with fans, he addressed the ongoing chatter about Love & War being postponed. HT recently reported that while Love & War doesn’t have a release date, the team is committed to a 2026 release. During the live, Ranbir shared that his film Ramayana Part One, which is slated to hit screens in October, will release before his next film co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
With Ramayana Part One hitting this October, it looks like Love & War is likely to aim for a December 2026 release if everything goes well.
Why Love & War has been delayed
Sources close to the production revealed to Pinkvilla that one of the primary reasons behind the delay is the sheer scale of Love & War. The film reportedly features expansive aerial action sequences that require heavy visual effects work. Given the complexity of these scenes, the VFX process is expected to be time-consuming. Those familiar with Bhansali’s filmmaking style note that visual finesse and detailing are central to his storytelling, making a rushed post-production cycle unlikely.
Another crucial factor influencing the decision is Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming release calendar. His other mega-budget project, Ramayana: Part One, is slated to hit cinemas in November 2026. Releasing Love & War in the same year would have placed two large-scale films featuring the actor dangerously close to each other.
About Love & War
For Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, Love & War marks their second collaboration with Bhansali. Alia starred in his 2022 hit Gangubai Kathiawadi, while Ranbir made his Bollywood debut in Bhansali’s Saawariya back in 2007. However, this will be Vicky Kaushal’s first collaboration with the legendary filmmaker.
