The body of a 35-year-old man, identified as Hansram alias Suraj, was found stuffed inside a blue drum on the rooftop of a house in Rajasthan's Khairthal-Tijara district. Originally from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, he had been living in Kishangarhbas with his wife and three children in a rented room. The discovery was made on Sunday, August 17, after neighbours alerted police about a foul smell. Authorities found the decomposed body with a throat injury inflicted by a sharp weapon.
Investigations revealed that Hansram's wife, Sunita, allegedly killed him with the help of her lover. The two reportedly tried to conceal the crime by placing his body in a blue drum filled with salt. The couple's three children, Harshal, Nandini and Golu, are now left behind. The chilling case bears a striking resemblance to the infamous Meerut drum murder, where merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput was killed and stuffed into a plastic drum by his wife and her lover.
The Man's Wife Was Having An Affair With The Landlady's Son
Soon after the discovery, police launched an investigation and arrested the prime suspects, Sunita and her lover Jitendra, the son of the house's landlady. Both were taken into custody on Monday, August 18. According to the initial probe, Sunita and Jitendra were in a relationship and had allegedly plotted Hansraj's murder so they could live together. Investigators revealed that the blue drum used to hide the body was borrowed by Sunita from Jitendra's mother, Mithilesh, nearly a week before the crime, pointing to clear premeditation.
The Man's Wife Quickly Became Friends With The Landlady's Son
Reportedly, Sunita had come to live on rent in Jitendra's house with her husband and three children about one and a half months ago. The latter was also once married, but his wife died about 12 years ago. Since then, Jitendra has been single. When the couple, along with their children, came to reside at his house, he quickly befriended them.
Jitendra first bonded with Hansraj, who worked at a brick kiln, and then Sunita. They started spending time together, with the two men also drinking alcohol. And within a few weeks of their friendship, Jitendra and Sunita, who is fond of making reels on social media, decided that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. For this reason, they murdered Hansraj by slitting his throat and then fleeing with the three children.

Sunita and Jitendra took advantage of the Janmashtami celebrations to commit the crime. The latter's mother, Mithilesh, and their neighbours had gone to the temple to celebrate the auspicious occasion. Upon her return from the temple, she noticed complete silence at her house. She found no one at the home, and along with her neighbours, she started looking for everyone, including her son Jitendra. They thought that Hansraj, his wife, his children, and Jitendra might have gone somewhere to celebrate Janmashtami.

The next day, when a foul smell started coming from the rooftop, Mithilesh alerted the police. She informed them that Sunita had asked for the drum a week ago to store water. This detail led the authorities to believe that Hansraj's murder was not sudden, but pre-planned.
