Raipur Man, After Recovery, Takes Dead ‘Dengue’ Mosquito To Municipality Office: 'Doctor Ne Bhi Confirm Kia Hai'
Mosquito bites can be dangerous, causing diseases like dengue, chikungunya and malaria. In residential neighbourhoods, it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that effective control measures are taken, stagnant water is eliminated and public awareness campaigns are carried out to prevent outbreaks. Such procedures are, however, rarely followed diligently. While it can be concerning, you are not likely to rush straight to the municipal corporation and lodge a complaint against this common civic issue.
A man from Raipur's Vamanrao Lakhe ward was the exception. In a rather unusual incident, he filed a grievance against the Municipal Corporation after being bitten by mosquitoes. The person, identified as Daulal Patel, killed the mosquitoes and carried them in a sealed packet to the municipal office, claiming that the insects could be carriers of dengue.
Man Brings Dead Mosquitoes To Municipal Office
A video of the incident posted on X has now grabbed everyone's attention. The clip shows Daulal Patel telling the health officer that he first consulted a doctor who recommended that he get the mosquitoes tested. He took the advice rather seriously and brought them securely sealed in a polythene bag to the civic body headquarters.
The scene felt like a nod to Bollywood veteran Nana Patekar's iconic Ek Machhar dialogue from the 1996 film Yeshwant. In the particular sequence, he used a mosquito bite reference to highlight society's corruption and injustice.

Daulal Patel was also accompanied by social activist Vijay Sona and the municipal corporation's leader of the opposition, Akash Tiwari, as per a report by NDTV. The authorities called the doctors and tests were conducted on the mosquitoes. The report showed that the insects were ordinary mosquitoes and not dengue carriers.

Akash Tiwari, in a statement, slammed the negligence of the authorities. He said, “If citizens have to catch mosquitoes themselves and prove the problem to the authorities, one can only imagine the situation elsewhere in the city, let alone the rest of the state."
Following this, the Raipur Municipal Corporation officials announced that fogging and anti-larval spraying would be intensified in the affected areas.
