Raghav Juyal Recalls His First Visit To Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat: 'By Mistake, I Asked Aryan Which Was His Room'
Raghav Juyal is currently enjoying the biggest spotlight of his career with The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Aryan Khan's bold and widely discussed directorial debut on Netflix. The dancer-turned-actor, affectionately known as the “King of Slow Motion," has stunned both critics and audiences with his effortless performance, emerging as one of the show's most memorable breakout stars.
But what's equally captivating about the series is Aryan Khan himself — not just as Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan's son, but as a filmmaker with a voice that's refreshingly original. While the world expected a certain legacy-driven storytelling from him, Aryan has instead delivered something audaciously meta, a satire that turns the camera back on the very industry that raised him.
Speaking to NDTV, Raghav shed light on Aryan's personality — one that fans rarely get to see. “Of course, he smiles. He laughs rolling on the ground. But on camera, he chooses not to. That's his choice. He is crazy funny. He is something else. God has tuned him differently," Raghav shared. “I know he is Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's son, but he has a different identity of his own. He is Aryan Khan. He's a genius — otherwise how could he do a show like this, to play with the public's perception and make a whole satire on it? It's a very brave step."
While The Ba*ds of Bollywood continues to make headlines for its biting commentary on the entertainment industry, Raghav's personal experiences during the making of the show have been no less cinematic. One of his most unforgettable memories, he admits, was his first visit to Mannat — the legendary sea-facing bungalow of Shah Rukh Khan.
“The first time I entered Mannat, there was a scanner like the ones at the airport. I had to go through it because people were like, ‘Who is this guy? Has someone come to find work?'" Raghav laughed, recalling the surreal experience. “By mistake, I asked Aryan which was his room. Then I realised, this is Shah Rukh Khan's house — you don't have rooms here, you have full floors. Aryan just laughed and said, ‘Come, let's go up.' We sat there and jammed, and later went out for dinner with his friends."
The moment, Raghav said, was so overwhelming that he immediately called his mother after leaving Mannat. “I told her, ‘Mummy, I just came from Mannat.' She got so excited and started asking, ‘How is it from inside? How is their bathroom? Did you see the library?' I had to tell her, ‘Mummy, I didn't go there as a broker, please relax!'" he laughed.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood doesn't just mark Aryan Khan's confident arrival as a director or Raghav Juyal's artistic evolution — it also serves as a celebration of cinema itself.
