PV Sindhu etched her name into badminton history on Thursday, becoming the first Indian woman to reach 500 career singles wins as she marched into the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters Super 500.
Up against Denmark's Line Kjaersfeldt in the round of 16, Sindhu was calm, clinical, and completely in control when it mattered most. She sealed a 21-19, 21-18 straight-games win to extend her dominance over the Dane, registering her fifth victory in six meetings.
More importantly, the result carried historic weight.

Sindhu is now just the sixth women's singles player ever to touch the 500-win milestone, joining an elite club featuring Ratchanok Intanon, Tai Tzu Ying, Akane Yamaguchi, Carolina Marin, and Petya Nedelcheva.
While the landmark win marked her 500th in women's singles, Sindhu's overall career tally now stands at 516 victories, bolstered by doubles wins in team events earlier in her journey. On the BWF Tour alone, her record reads an imposing 456 wins against 227 losses.
The challenge only gets tougher from here. Ranked 13th in the world, Sindhu will next face the top seed and World No.4 Chen Yu Fei of China.
Lakshya sends a warning
On the men's side, Lakshya Sen announced his intentions in emphatic fashion. The seventh seed demolished World No.42 Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong 21-10, 21-11 in just 33 minutes, barely breaking a sweat.
Fresh off signs of a resurgence at last week's India Open — where he was the only Indian to reach the quarter-finals — Lakshya now faces Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul in the last eight.
