Many believe that luxury cars are only meant for those born in rich families. But real life keeps proving this idea wrong. A video going viral shows two sons of an autorickshaw driver buying their family's first luxury car. The story belongs to Rohit Nandeshwar from Pune and his brother, who grew up in a small house with money issues but strong family bonds. Their father spent 35 years driving an auto, while their mother managed everything else with care and patience.
As their spending rose due to education and a sister's wedding, the brothers stepped in by doing small part time jobs to support the family. After college, they started an events business and later tried their hand at trading. They faced heavy losses during COVID but refused to give up. With determination and their father's advice, they rebuilt everything from scratch. Buying the Audi for their parents became a moment they will never forget.
A Father's 35 Years On The Road
Narrating his story to Humans of Bombay, Rohit Nandeshwar shared, “I grew up in a house where money was limited, but love never felt short. That's why the moment when we surprised our parents with a car became a memory for life. Our story began in a small house made of bricks, with a broken wall and a leaking roof. Six of us lived in that tiny space, sharing everything. Our only source of income was my Papa's rented auto. Sometimes there was good income and at times there wasn't even enough money left for petrol. In that tiny budget, somehow my Maa managed to save."
“Years later, those savings helped my father buy his own rickshaw. That's when he also got a job as a driver with a company. His income grew, from Rs 150 a day to about Rs 15,000 a month. But still didi ki shaadi, bhai ki padhai aur papa ki health, I could feel the pressure on him. That's when I decided to start working. I started selling SIM cards, worked at a cyber cafe by day and distributed pamphlets at night. In 2015, I became an HR assistant earning Rs 4500 a month, but it wasn't enough. My brother and I also ran a small Events business," he added.

A Father's Advice That Changed Everything
In 2018, Rohit Nandeshwar decided to learn about the stock market through one of his clients. What began as simple beginner's luck soon turned into profit and the family “thought, ‘Chalo ab sab achha hoga'." But the happiness did not last long. The COVID pandemic hit and everything fell apart at once, stocks, events and business. His portfolio crashed badly and he lost nearly Rs 2 lakh in just one month. EMIs piled up and debt became a heavy burden. During this tough phase, Rohit said his “family stood by him, financially and emotionally."
He added, “I remember my Papa's words clearly, ‘Imaandari se kaam kar, nasib har baar sath nahi deta'." Those words pushed him to study the stock market seriously. After three years of patience and learning, he managed to recover and grow again.
Rohit then felt it was time to do something very special for his parents. He spoke to his brother and together they decided to buy a car for their father. From choosing the model to making the payment, the two brothers managed everything quietly, without giving any hint at home. In December 2025, they took their father to the showroom, who “had no idea why we were there," Rohit recalled.
When they finally handed over the car keys to his father, emotions took over and he broke down in tears. Rohit added, “Jab uss din Maa-Papa ne mujhe gale lagaya, laga bas zindagi me sab kuch mil gaya." He said he made a promise to himself that day, “yeh toh bas shuruaat hai."
