In a shocking incident from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, a 15-year-old boy climbed a high-tension power line in a bid to get his parents to agree to his marriage. The teenager's attempt caused panic among the residents. The teenager remained suspended in the air for nearly 40 minutes before authorities safely brought him down.
At the time of the incident, the power had coincidentally gone out in the area. It occurred near the Devsara police station.
Why Did The Boy Climb The Power Line?
As per Bhaskar English, the boy was in love with a teenage girl from the Patti area. The couple was reportedly in a relationship for a year. When he went to meet her, he was beaten up by her family. A compromise was later reached between the two families.
The boy's family confiscated his phone and banned him from the area. Angered by his family's reaction, the teenager climbed an 11,000-volt power line and held on to the wire. He reportedly vowed to come down only after his marriage was arranged with his girlfriend.
The move triggered panic among the teen's family and the rest of the villagers, who contacted the electricity department for help.
The boy was spotted hanging on the power line 35 feet above the ground on Thursday afternoon. Fearing electrocution, none of the villagers tried to climb the pole.

What Happened To The Teenager Later?
The incident prompted swift action from the authorities. At the time, power supply to the 11,000-volt line was switched off due to maintenance work. Officials quickly reached the spot and persuaded the boy to come down from the wire. After a lengthy discussion and assurances that the matter would be addressed, the boy agreed to come down. The entire incident lasted around 40 minutes, during which the police brought a ladder to help him descend safely.
Given the sensitive nature of the complaint and the ages of those involved, the police handled the matter with care. Aspur Devsara Station In-charge Vijayendra Singh told Bhaskar English that since both the boy and girl were minors, the family members were called and counselled. Later, the boy was handed over to his family.
