Prabhas Starrer The Raja Saab Gets Fresh Release Date, New Poster Out

Prabhas has treated fans with a surprise on his birthday. His upcoming film The Raja Saab fresh release date has been officially announced with a striking new poster. The action-packed entertainer, starring the pan-India superstar, is now slated to hit theatres on January 9, 2026, promising to be the perfect year-end cinematic treat.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Prabhas shared the new poster and announced new release date. “See you all in theatres on January 9th, 2026….#TheRajaSaab," read the caption. Fans reacted too. One of the fans wrote, “Happiest birthday rebelgod . Long live king." Another wrote, “Happy Birthday Darling." The trailer begins with Prabhas sitting in a hypnotist's office, asked to focus as the classic Bappi Lahiri and Usha Uthup song Koi Yahan Nache Nache plays in the background. He appears shocked by the visions that unfold, showing eerie creatures and a haunted mansion. Sanjay Dutt's character is introduced by Boman Irani as an “exorcist, psychiatrist, and hypnotist." Prabhas prepares to confront Dutt's character, even referencing Star Wars humorously. The trailer concludes with Prabhas' older avatar, hinting at his role as the evil grandfather, while Zareena Wahab plays his grandmother.

Release plans

Producer TG Vishwa Prasad, speaking to 123 Telugu, shared the film's release strategy. The team plans to release the movie on 9 January 2026, aligning with the Sankranti festival. Prasad explained that this decision was suggested by stakeholders in the film business. However, Bollywood distributors are reportedly insisting on a 5 December 2025 release. He added that a few songs and minor patchwork are still pending, and the film is expected to release in January.

About The Raja Saab

The Raja Saab is written and directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. Although the film was officially announced in January 2024, principal photography began in October 2022.

The cast includes Prabhas in dual roles, Malavika Mohanan (making her Telugu debut), Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, and Nayanthara in a special song. Several actresses, including Raashii Khanna and Sreeleela, were considered before finalising Malavika, Nidhhi, and Riddhi as the three lead actresses.

The story follows a young man seeking to claim his ancestral property to resolve a financial crunch. Prabhas reportedly plays both the grandson and his ghostly grandfather. The film is said to be set against the backdrop of an old cinema theatre.

Director Maruthi narrated the horror comedy script to Prabhas in 2022, who agreed to join despite shooting for Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD. This marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Maruthi, whom the director called a “golden opportunity."
