The much-talked-about biopic based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially gone on floors. Titled Maa Vande, the film kickstarted its journey with a traditional pooja ceremony in Mumbai, marking the beginning of what the makers describe as a deeply emotional and inspirational cinematic chapter. Malayalam star Unni Mukundan will be seen portraying PM Modi in the film, a casting choice that has already sparked curiosity across film circles and social media.
The announcement was made through a series of photos and videos shared online by the makers, capturing moments from the muhurat ceremony. Unni Mukundan also posted a video from the first day of the shoot on Instagram, writing, “Maa Vande now begins. A new chapter starts, one that tells the story of a man who shaped the destiny of a nation.” His words quickly resonated with fans, who flooded the comments section with messages of support and anticipation.

Unlike conventional political biopics, Maa Vande places strong emotional focus on PM Modi's personal journey, particularly his bond with his mother, Heeraben Modi. The film aims to trace the transformation of an ordinary man into a national leader, driven by values, sacrifice, discipline and purpose. Inspired by real-life events, the narrative promises an authentic portrayal of both Modi's personal struggles and political milestones.
The project was officially announced in September, timed with PM Modi's birthday, and has since remained under keen public watch. According to the makers, the film is a tribute to unwavering resolve and the quiet strength drawn from familial roots.
Unni Mukundan, a well-known face in Malayalam cinema, brings with him over a decade of acting experience. He made his acting debut in 2011 with Seedan and has since featured in popular films like Mallu Singh, Gurudan and Marco. Apart from acting, Unni is also an accomplished producer and a National Award winner, having produced Meppadiyan in 2021. His transformation into the role of PM Modi is expected to be one of the film's major highlights.
Maa Vande is produced by Veer Reddy M under the Silver Cast Creations banner. The film is written and directed by Kranti Kumar CH. The technical team features some of the biggest names in Indian cinema—KK Senthil Kumar as cinematographer, Ravi Basrur composing the music, national award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad, production designer Sabu Cyril, and action director King Solomon.
Designed as a pan-India release, Maa Vande will hit theatres in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English, ensuring the story reaches audiences across the country. While the release date is yet to be announced, the scale and ambition of the project suggest a major theatrical outing.
