Pep Guardiola Turns Up The Heat On Israel; Exclaims 'We Allowed A People To Be Wiped Out'
It's become all too familiar, but Pep Guardiola isn't holding back — once again using his platform to blast Israel's actions in Gaza.
In a fiery interview with RAC1 this week, the Manchester City boss threw his weight behind a high-profile friendly between Palestine and the Catalonia national team: a match he called “more than symbolic."
Guardiola urged fans to pack Barcelona's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, not just in support of the Palestinian cause, but to signal that “there is a part of the world that thinks of them."

More than 27,000 tickets have already been snapped up for the game. It comes on the back of a passionate wave of support, with over 50,000 fans turning out last weekend to watch Palestine play the Basque Country in Bilbao.
The match, Guardiola argued, is a way to highlight what he described as a “genocide" carried out by the Israeli military.
“The world has left Palestine alone. We've done absolutely nothing. They're not at fault for being born there. We've all allowed them (Israel) to destroy an entire people. The damage is already done, and it's irreparable," Guardiola stated unforgivingly.
Guardiola took aim at global leaders, saying he has “very little faith" in them.
“I cannot imagine anyone in the world who can defend the massacre in Gaza. Our children could have been there … killed just because they were born there. They will do anything to stay in power."
This isn't the first time the former Barcelona coach has been vocal about the Israel–Palestine conflict. And witnessing the tenacity he delivers every word with, one can bet it won't be the last.

In May of this year, in a landmark move, Spain recognized the state of Palestine alongside Ireland and Norway, leading the way for other Western countries to follow suit.
According to the Palestinian Olympic Committee and the Palestine Football Association, about 400 athletes were killed between Oct. 7, 2023, and July, including 245 football players, among them 69 children and 176 young men.

The toll has likely risen since.
Since October 2023, Israel's war in Gaza has killed more than 69,000 people and injured more than 170,600, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
