Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Friday (February 6, 2026) following unabated protests by opposition members over various issues. Friday was the second day when the House could not take up discussion on the Union Budget presented on February 1.
Speaker Om Birla, adjourning the House till 12 noon, said that in the current session, 19 hours and 13 minutes have been wasted due to the disruptions. Mr. Birla said he wants the House to run and people have elected the members to raise their issues but not to shout slogans.
The House will reconvene at 11 a.m. on Monday (February 9, 2026). The first phase of the Budget Session will conclude on February 13, after which Parliament will take a recess till March 9.

As the House reassembled at 12 noon after an earlier adjournment, Opposition members continued with their protests by trooping into the Well of the House.
Chairing the proceedings, Krishna Prasad Tenneti urged opposition to take their seats and put down placards.
