Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and singer Palaash Muchhal's wedding, scheduled for November 23, was “indefinitely postponed" just hours before the grand ceremony. While both families cited Smriti's father's sudden health scare as the reason, the internet is swarming with unverified theories.

In the middle of the online frenzy, old photographs of Palaash with his former girlfriend have resurfaced and quickly gone viral. One picture shows an elaborate proposal setup, with Palaash kneeling before his then-partner. This has prompted social media users to speculate that the singer may have been engaged before he began seeing Smriti Mandhana. However, these claims remain unverified, and News18 cannot confirm the authenticity of the circulating images.

Users online have identified the ex-girlfriend as Birva Shah, a plastic surgeon, and claim the proposal photo is from 2017. Palaash reportedly began dating Smriti in 2019 after being introduced through mutual friends. The couple went public about their relationship only last year.

Following the postponement, fans noticed Smriti had quietly removed her engagement announcement video from Instagram. The viral dance reel featured teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy. The clip had surprised fans when Smriti ended it with a subtle reveal of her engagement ring, confirming her relationship with Palaash. It is now being alleged that Smriti's teammates have also removed the reel from their respective Instagram profiles.

The move has further fuelled speculation, although neither Smriti nor Palaash has responded to the rumours.

A user on X wrote, “This is not something you delete unless something big has happened." Another added, “She deserves peace, not this heartbreak."

According to reports, Smriti's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered heart attack-like symptoms on the morning of the wedding and was rushed to the Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli. The medical emergency halted all wedding preparations.

The situation also took an emotional toll on Palaash. His mother told Hindustan Times that he was extremely close to Smriti's father, making it difficult for him to continue with the rituals amid the crisis. “He cried so much that his health suddenly deteriorated. They kept him in the hospital for four hours. He was given an IV drip, an ECG was done, and other tests were carried out. Everything came back normal, but he is under a lot of stress," she shared.
