Novak Djokovic Back In Action! Confirmed For ATP Finals In Turin: Report
Sinner and Alcaraz, watch your step, because the Djoker is on his way back.
Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic will return to action at next week's ATP Finals in Turin, the president of the Italian Tennis Federation confirmed on Monday.
Djokovic, 38, has been sidelined for three weeks since his semi-final loss to Valentin Vacherot at the Shanghai Masters on October 11.
The world No. 4 skipped the Paris Masters but is set to make his competitive comeback this week in Athens, where he opens against Chile's Alejandro Tabilo in the second round.
“We have confirmation that Djokovic will be in Turin," federation chief Angelo Binaghi told Rai Gr Parlamento radio, quashing speculation that the Serb might skip the event for a second consecutive year.
The ATP Finals, which feature the top eight players of the season, mark the traditional climax to the tennis calendar.
Djokovic, who first appeared in the event back in 2007, has reached the semifinals of all four Majors this season and lifted his milestone 100th career title in Geneva earlier this year — becoming just the third player in the Open era to achieve the feat.
With Djokovic's participation now confirmed, only one place remains up for grabs in Turin.
The final slot will be decided between Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime and Italy's Lorenzo Musetti, who are separated by just 160 points.
Musetti, currently competing in Athens, could overtake Auger-Aliassime with a tournament win this week.
