Ladakh Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta addressed recent violence. He vowed strict action against those disturbing peace. Four people died and many were injured in clashes. Over 100 security personnel also sustained injuries. The Lt Governor reviewed law and order. He assured support for injured personnel. Gupta emphasized peace and communal harmony in Ladakh. He urged citizens to uphold brotherhood.

No one involved in acts of violence here on September 24 would be spared, Ladakh Lt Governor Kavinder Gupta said on Tuesday, as he inquired about the condition of more than 100 security personnel who were injured in the attacks by protesters.

Chairing a high-level security review meeting to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory here this evening, the Lt Governor directed senior police officials to identify and take strict action against those responsible for "disturbing peace".

Four people were killed and scores of others were injured in intense clashes amid a shutdown on Wednesday. Over 60 persons, including Sonam Wangchuk, the face of the agitation in support of the demand for statehood and the extension of the Sixth Schedule, were detained.

Wangchuk, a renowned climate activist, is currently lodged in a jail in Rajasthan under the National Security Act.

"No one involved in acts of violence will be spared. Law will take its firm course, and those trying to disrupt communal harmony will face stringent action," the Lt Governor said, addressing the meeting.

Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police S D Singh Jamwal, senior officers of the Army, CRPF, and district administration attended and briefed the LG on the latest developments, security preparedness, and inter-agency coordination to ensure peace and order in the region.

Gupta inquired about the condition of security personnel injured during the violence on September 24.

Officials at the meeting informed that 105 security personnel, including 57 CRPF personnel and over 48 police personnel, sustained injuries while on duty at various locations on that day.

Gupta assured that the injured personnel would receive the best possible medical treatment and directed the administration to extend full support to their families.

He lauded the courage and dedication displayed by the security forces in maintaining law and order under challenging circumstances.

Commending the people of Ladakh, the LG said the region has always been known for its peaceful coexistence, brotherhood, and rich cultural traditions.

He lauded the maturity and restraint displayed by the citizens of Leh in ensuring that normalcy is swiftly restored.

"The Union Territory Administration is committed to safeguarding the interests of every citizen. Peace, stability, and communal harmony are our foremost priorities, and every possible step is being taken to uphold them," he added.

Gupta emphasised that the administration will continue to strengthen its outreach efforts, enhance community engagement, and ensure that grievances are addressed promptly.

The government belongs to the people, and together we will ensure that Ladakh continues to shine as a beacon of peace, progress, and harmony, he said.

"The well-being and security of every citizen is our foremost priority. The administration is fully committed to ensuring peace, harmony, and inclusive development across Ladakh. I urge all sections of society to continue upholding the region's rich tradition of brotherhood and unity.
