The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga is still humming loudly as the deadline clock bleeds out — but one contender has officially stepped off the ride: the Golden State Warriors.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Golden State made multiple pushes for the ‘Greek Freak', only to hit the same immovable wall every other team has encountered: Milwaukee isn't budging. At least not right now.

By flipping Jonathan Kuminga — their lone true blue-chip prospect — along with Buddy Hield to Atlanta for Kristaps Porzingis, Golden State effectively slammed the door on a Giannis pursuit.
The Warriors did float a pick-heavy offer, ESPN reported, but within the last 24 hours, they accepted reality: Milwaukee wasn't trading its franchise cornerstone at this deadline.
Once Kuminga was off the table, the math collapsed. A theoretical package involving Kuminga and Draymond Green was the Warriors' strongest play — and without it, the Bucks had no reason to listen.
So Golden State moves on. Giannis stays put. For now.
With hours left before the deadline, the remaining possibilities are simple: a late swing from Miami or Minnesota — or no deal at all until summer, when this saga inevitably reignites.
