Nitish Kumar NDA's main pillar in Bihar; allies united on seat sharing: JDU's Jha

Nitish Kumar NDA's main pillar in Bihar

In a strategic move, JDU's Sanjay Jha showcases the NDA's streamlined approach to seat allocation as they gear up for the elections. He assures that under Nitish Kumar's leadership, the NDA will steer the government in Bihar. Additionally, Jha emphasizes the substantial financial backing from the central administration aimed at enhancing Bihar's developmental landscape.

Every party wants to contest more seats but in an alliance all have to agree on one respectable number, JDU's national working president Sanjay Jha tells Jatin Takkar in an interview.

On seat distribution and candidate selection among NDA allies

There was complete clarity among NDA allies on seat distribution. We decided on the number of seats and then names of the seats. So, unlike Opposition who are fighting among themselves on several seats, in NDA there were no hiccups. And every party wants to contest on more seats and so does JDU. But when you contest together then all allies need to settle on one number.

On JDU not in elder brother's role in alliance

As I told you in electoral politics, every party wants to maximise its number of contesting seats, that is obvious. But in coalition all allies must mutually agree on one number. And seat distribution was done taking into consideration the strength of parties in the current Bihar assembly, on how many seats were contested and won in Lok Sabha polls. A respectable number of seats were given to all NDA allies.

On Nitish Kumar not officially being declared as NDA's CM face

You tell me who is the Bihar CM. Elections are fought in the name of the sitting CM. Top BJP leadership from PM Narendra Modi to all have repeatedly said that the election is being contested in leadership of Nitish Kumar, so it is clear that he will again be the CM of the NDA government in Bihar.

On BJP making its leader Maharashtra CM, not from Shiv Sena

I don't know what transpired in other states. And every state's politics and dynamics are different. Let me say this categorically - NDA is fighting elections in the name of Nitish Kumar and after polls he will be the chief minister and that is clear to one and all. Nitish Kumar is the main pillar of the NDA alliance in Bihar.

On Opposition alliance declaring Tejashwi as CM candidate

Tejashwi is not officially declared as chief ministerial candidate, but it was done after black mailing. He didn't go for campaigning after Congress showed reluctance in announcing him as chief ministerial candidate. And it will help NDA as his announcement will remind people of Jungle Raj of RJD rule in contrast to Nitish babu's Sushashan.

On Nitish Kumar's health and him losing his sheen

You yourself can see him travelling across the state, interacting with people, delivering speeches. See he is an old school politician, he doesn't have that frame of mind that now every moment, every nano second of a leader's movement is being captured by cameras and then it is being projected in such a way that it can be used for a political agenda against you. He is a natural leader and does things in natural ways.

On any plans to review liquor ban in Bihar

Nitish ji-imposed liquor ban was on the demands of jeevika didis, it was not done suo motu by him. Even during early years of his rule liquor was sold in Bihar. And you need to look at it from a rural perspective; it helps in checking liquor consumption among daily wagers and rural folk.

On JDU's special category status or special package demand

NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in last two budgets has provided more than ₹70,000 crore additional support to Bihar.

Various big ticket projects --Makhana board, irrigation support to check floods in north-Bihar, six lane roads all these would change the landscape of Bihar. So, in the wake of a special category or special package we were looking for financial assistance for development of Bihar, and we are getting that. Nitish Kumar brought Bihar out of its dark days, and the state is now in a take-off stage.
