Online viewers were left shocked after a clip surfaced showing a young girl in Indonesia panicking late at night. Reports claim she wakes up around midnight, screaming in fear.
The caption shared along with the video on X (formerly Twitter) explains the situation: “An Indonesian girl named Pinar has suffered since childhood from recurring dreams that always follow the same scenario. Each night at midnight, she wakes up terrified. Her family consulted doctors, but their advice brought no significant relief."

The video triggered a plethora of reactions on social media, with one social media user commenting, “Pinar’s case reminds me of what is known as ‘Night Terrors’ or chronic nightmares. Sometimes the cause goes deeper than just dreams; it could be linked to suppressed psychological stress since childhood. I truly hope she finds peace and relief soon."
Another said, “I’m not a professional, but maybe try changing her environment — different room, softer lighting, small decor changes. Don’t let her sleep alone for now. Gentle background sound at night could help ease the transition when she wakes."
Many people also tried to connect the girl’s experience to something paranormal.
A person wrote, “I’m not trying to make fun of this, but is this some Insidious-type thing happening in real life? It’s terrifying. She’s pointing like something is actually standing there."
“My younger brother had the same exact issue growing up; he even often got sick. I remember he was about the same age as this girl, too. Our parents tried everything (consult doc, psychiatrist, etc), and the only thing that worked was when we moved out of our house and lived in a different city. We moved a lot because of my dad’s job. Until today, we can’t explain why that happened," someone else shared.
“Poor child. I’m not an expert, but if it’s reoccurring might be something nefarious (demon) attempting to attach to her, or a past trauma reliving in her subconscious. Maybe prayers (or a spiritual cleansing, depending on their beliefs) can help," read another comment.
What Could Be Happening?
Dr. Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist from Hyderabad, says the girl is most likely experiencing sleep terrors. “This child is most likely having sleep terrors. Understanding Sleep Terrors in Children is important, as the episodes can look alarming but are usually harmless," he explained in a post on X. Unlike regular nightmares, sleep terrors occur during deep sleep, and children often appear completely unresponsive even while awake.
“This is likely a Sleep Terror (Night Terror), a common NREM sleep parasomnia in children aged 3–12," he wrote.

How To Spot Sleep Terrors
Dr. Kumar also mentioned the common signs of sleep terrors:
Sudden Arousal: Abrupt sitting up and screaming.
Physical Signs: Fast heartbeat, sweating and dilated pupils.
Unresponsiveness: The child won’t recognise parents or be “consoled."
Amnesia: In the morning, the child won’t remember the episode at all.
Guidance For Parents
According to Dr. Kumar, parents should avoid trying to wake the child during an episode as it may make them more agitated.
“Stay calm. They are not in pain; it just looks that way. Safety first: gently guide them back to bed if they wander, and remove any toys or sharp objects from the floor," he advised. He also emphasised that overtiredness is the main trigger, and maintaining a consistent bedtime is key.
The “Scheduled Awakening" Trick
For children whose sleep terrors occur at the same time every night, Dr. Kumar recommended waking the child 15–30 minutes before the usual episode for a few nights. According to him, this often resets the sleep cycle and stops the terrors. Most children outgrow these episodes naturally, but if they are violent or frequent, a specialist should be consulted.
